One department, two agencies.

The Wisconsin State Police brings the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office together as one law enforcement hub. The two worked side by side for more than three years before joining into a single department, and WSP is built around the best of both.

It’s GVRPJ’s most active department as of April 2026, and it’s always recruiting. Inexperienced? That’s okay. You’ll learn everything you need inside the department.

How to join

Requirements

  • 13 years or older
  • A reliable laptop or desktop
  • A working microphone or a second device
  • At least 5 hours a month
  • Pass a field training
  • Stay respectful and professional at all times
  • Follow the department guidelines

Steps

  1. ApplyFill out the WSP application. Applications are usually read at least once a day.
  2. Pass a field trainingAttend a field training with the department and pass it.
  3. Start patrollingHit the road as a Probationary Officer with WSP or OCSO.
